Using GIL to find books
- To find books at GPC, use GIL, the library catalog.
- Use the Quick Search option for a broad keyword search, more like searching on the Internet. A keyword search looks for your search term(s) anywhere in the catalog record.
- Use the Exact Search option to limit your search to a specific field in catalog records. This can be used to search for a book with a known author or title, or it can be used to search for books by subject heading.

***If you don't find any results for a subject heading in GIL@GPC, try searching the GIL Universal Catalog.
- Once you find a book, check the location, status, and call number. Location will tell you which campus owns the book, status will indicate if the book is available, and the call number will tell you where to find it on the shelf.
- Don't forget - you can request items from other GPC campuses. Just click on the request link at the top of the catalog record. Books usually take 1-2 business days to arrive and can be picked up from the circulation desk.
NetLibrary
NetLibrary provides access to full-text of electronic books (e-books). Keyword search will results in the list of full-text e-books related to the subject of your research. You'll need to access NetLibrary through Galileo or create your personal account to be able to use it from home (NetLibrary Handout).
